Dr. Kristen Adams is a registered psychologist who has worked in private practice settings for twenty years treating couples as well as adults. She received her Ph.D. from York University where she trained with Dr. Leslie Greenberg, one of the developers of Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT).
She enjoys working with couples and draws on a range of couple therapy approaches, primarily Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Integrative Behavior Couples Therapy (IBCT). She participated as a therapist in Dr. Greenberg and Dr. Malcolm’s research project about resolution of couples’ emotional injuries and frequently sees couples who have experienced a breach of trust in their relationship.
She provides individual treatment for a broad range of concerns such as stress, depression, anxiety, panic, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and interpersonal challenges such as life transitions and bereavement. Her individual treatment approaches include cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) and emotion focused therapy (EFT).
She is a guest lecturer on topics such as self-esteem, post-traumatic stress disorder and couple therapy.
